GET INVOLVED
Neighborhood Stories grows through the participation of New Yorkers across the city. Whether you want to share your story, volunteer as an interviewer, or help spread the word, there are many ways to participate.
SHARING YOUR STORY
Every New Yorker has a story to tell. If you have ever lived in any of the five boroughs, you are welcome to record an interview. Narrators do not need to be an expert, public figure, or longtime resident to have a story worth preserving.

VOLUNTEER INTERVIEWER & OUTREACH AMBASSADOR
Bring New York City’s stories into the archives.
Neighborhood Stories periodically recruits volunteers to help identify storytellers through community outreach and conduct oral history interviews. Ideal volunteers can commit for six months and either have deep ties to community organizations or enjoy building new relationships and encouraging people to share their experiences.
No prior interviewing experience is required—training and support are provided.
